3 Questions To Ask When Choosing A Moving Company To Hire

Janet Alexander

Are you getting ready to move to a new home? The process can be exciting yet overwhelming at the same time, which is why a moving company can be a big help. Here are a few questions to ask when choosing am moving company to help you make the leap:

What Are Their Service Timelines?

Not all moving companies operate in the same way, which means that the time it takes to get your household moved can vary dramatically. Some moving companies get the job done as they can, which can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to complete. Other moving companies offer a service timeline in which you can expect your household belongings to be packed up, moved, and delivered to your new home by a certain time.

Therefore, it is a good idea to find out whether the moving company you're considering hiring offers a service timeline, and if so, what that timeline looks like. They should be able to tell you what day you can expect to be moved into your new place, give or take a day or two at the most.

Are Any Packing Materials Available?

Even if the moving company you decide to hire will pack your belongings up, move them, and deliver them to your new home's front door, there are some things you may want to pack up yourself and take with you. Whether it is clothing, artwork, jewelry, or anything else that is important to you, the moving company you are working with should be able to provide the packing materials you need to ensure the safety of your property.

What If Moving Plans and Schedules Change?

You may have your move all planned out right now, but circumstances can change and problems can arise that change your plans and schedule in some way. If you schedule your movers to come to pack your stuff up into a moving truck on a specific day but end up needing to reschedule, what will happen? Will your moving company charge you a fee or force you to choose a day that is not the most convenient for you due to time and labor constraints?

If rescheduling is not available, what will happen to any money you have already paid toward the move? If rescheduling is available, how much notice is required to schedule a new moving day? It is important to know what to expect if your timeline changes and rescheduling must take place.

Storing A Better Way

After I started organizing my basement, I could tell that there were a few serious problems with my previous storage procedure. In addition to finding more than a few issues with damaged items, I also had a problem tracking down the things that I needed, which was frustrating. I wanted to streamline the experience, so I started going through everything and getting rid of things I didn't need. It was difficult at first, but after a few boxes, things became much easier to handle. Check out this blog for great information on storing the smart way and avoiding trouble in the long run.
